Hulan is a formation of eight female artists from Mongolia: 4 musicians, a singer, a dancer and two contortionists. Unlike groups that are almost exclusively hand lever on the suggestion of Khoom (duplifonico), Hulan component focuses on a more poetic, spiritual and refined music, song, dance and circus arts from Mongolia, with sensitivity and intensity that only a female ensemble can achieve. Hulan’s music draws from traditional repertoire, which sometimes gets by, and the rich repertoire of the most important composers of the twentieth century, such as Mongols: No Jantsannorov, L. Murdorj, J. Mend-Amar, Sharav, whose works always inspired by the rich folk tradition. There are plenty of nods to Western tastes, large part of their academic career. On the carpet of sound produced by a morin khuur (Mongolian violin), a yochin (dulcimer) and two yatga (harp – harp) are inserted at a rate never random, songs with virtuoso technique and Bogino dell’urtiin DUU DUU, the traditional dances and the numbers of circus contortionists. The direction of the various shows – concerts proposed, aims to enhance the enormous possiblities of the composers, with a professional and artistic purpose.
